"Tennessee Chapel" - Acrylic - October 2013
This painting was done at an Art with a Twist class at the Red Cockerill Gallery. I was fortunate that I was Ann Cockerill's only student that day so I got a 1-1 class. It was a fun painting. We used thick acrylic paint applied with a wadded paper towel to achieve the tree texture.
"Shady Path - 2 " - Watercolor - June 2013
In 2012 I visited Smith Gilbert Gardens in Kennesaw, Ga. There was a lovely shady path on the left as you enter the gardens. I loved the shadows. I painted a pastel painting of the path and it sold to a fellow art lover at my show last year at the Cultural Arts Center. I missed the painting and decided to try it again in watercolor. I entered it in the Red Cockerill Gallery show in August 2013 and it won one of the judges special awards.
JPD Artworks is a painting blog. After starting to paint in 2010, I've used this blog to record my progress and my journey. Feedback is welcomed. The primary medium is pastels, acylics and watercolor.

Summer Paintings
Been a little under the weather and haven't been at the easel as much as I would like. Getting ready to head to the beach. Eight days - goal 16 paintings. I'll be taking my watercolors, pastels and acrylics and some favorite photos. Will probably see a beach scene or two worth painting also.
This painting was done with pastel and water. Karen Margulis recently did a class layering pastel and water. It gave some interesting results.

Tybee Art Association
"Asian Flower" - Watercolor - May 2013
Just joined Tybee Art Association on a trip to Tybee Island. Attended a fun watercolor class with Brad Hooks. I couldn' figure out how to get this to turn horizontal on blog. It should lay horizontal. We did the background first with lots of water and spray bottle on the paint. Then sprinkled it heavily with salt. It created a nice texture. Look forward to other trips to Tybee and maybe taking some of my paintings to enter in the next Tybee Art Association Gallery Show.

Dogwood Spring - April 2013
"Dogwood Spring" - Today was a great diversion. I went to Red Cockerill Gallery and painted in the Art with a Twist class. It was 2 hours of bliss. Just restful concentration on something beautiful. I love the dogwoods in the spring. This is an acrylic. Haven't done acrylic in a while. This type can be mixed with water.

Spring Flowers - Painting Redo
"Spring Flowers" - Pastel - 9x13 - Feburary 2013 - Every once in a while I go back to a painting that just didn't do well and rework it. That was the case on this painting. The original photo was sunflowers but the colors didn't work so I came back and added more flowers and made them tulips.
